April 2, 2024 — Marist is expanding pathways for entering healthcare-related graduate programs in the School of Science to meet the growing demand from students aiming to fast-track their healthcare careers. These new admission pathways for current and future Marist students pertain to the following programs: Masters in Athletic Training, the Masters in Physician Assistant Studies and Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

“These entry pathways have been created in recognition of the high level of preparation for graduate studies of our Red Foxes and we are excited to welcome more Marist students into our graduate programs in the School of Science,” said Dean Alicia Slater. “There are several new opportunities for Marist students to enter our graduate programs.”

The new competitive and comprehensive programs offer specialized tracks to suit a range of interests and career goals.

New Pathways into Graduate Healthcare Programs at Marist

Marist's Physician Assistant (PA) program now offers a direct acceptance option, a streamlined path that allows highly qualified current Marist students to seamlessly transition into the PA program without the traditional interview process. Up to 10% of each year's admitted PA cohort will be admitted via this pathway. By prioritizing accessibility and efficiency, this initiative empowers students to pursue their passion for healthcare by continuing their graduate studies at Marist.

Did you know? Since the inception of the program, every Marist PA graduate has passed the PANCE national credentialing exam, 97% doing so on their first attempt.

The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program now offers a direct admit pathway, allowing qualified Marist students to enter the accredited DPT program directly after completion of their undergraduate Marist degree. Spanning a 4+3-year academic track, this pathway enables and prepares students to seamlessly transition from undergraduate studies to earning their Doctorate in Physical Therapy. There is also an option for first-year and transfer students to be admitted directly into the program based on their academic record.

Did you know? 100% of Marist graduates who have sought employment after graduation from the program have been employed, aided in part by access to over 300 clinical site placements for students across the country and in Europe. The DPT program also has a record of a 96.55% overall pass rate on the NPTE exam.

Marist offers a fully accredited Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) degree with two different opportunities for admission. Students can choose between a standalone two-year MSAT program following completion of a bachelor’s degree, or an accelerated five-year dual degree program, earning both a Bachelor of Science in Biology and the MSAT in five years. These pathways provide students with the essential scientific knowledge and hands-on training needed to become Certified athletic trainers.

Did you know? The Athletic Training program has maintained a 100% first-time pass rate on the national certification exam in 8 out of the last 10 years, along with a 96% first-time pass rate and a 100% overall pass rate during that same period.
